The Briskoda are you paying too much for petrol and diesel price quest (moan)!

Featured Replies

Not that I want to be a grumpy old fart but I think it is time we stopped paying so much for our petrol and diesel in the UK! So I thought I would start this thread just to see how many of you think we are paying over the odds and also how much it is where you are! So join the Briskoda are you paying too much for petrol and diesel price quest (moan)!! It is everyones chance in this log to have a good moan like me at the cost of driving today and also so that other members can see where the best places to buy cheaper fuel in the UK are! You never know someone in government might see this thread one day and see how peed off all us UK motorists really are!

I will start us off by saying that eveytime I go to my local forecourt Tesco's, Sleaford, Lincolnshire the price of my diesel has crept up more! Last time I went it was £1.11.9 a litre for diesel and £1.05.9 for normal unleaded!

Happy moaning Briskodians!!

Last week diesel was 111.9p, this week I see it is 113.9p. Petrol is unchange at 107.9p (wahooo :D)

Chris

I paid 110.9 for vpower yesterday, but i did get a free formula 1 model :P

It is extremely annoying watching the price creep up each time i fill up.

DERV is 115.9 and petrol 105.9. Now can understand link between rising oil and fuel prices (not that I am agreeing with the rises), but how come the DERV/petrol gaps is increasing all the time.

Not so many years ago DERV was abot 5p cheaper than petrol then the gap becan to close.

About a month or so ago this gap was +5p but has now doubled to +10p:eek:

You`re not alone in the UK with high petrol and diesel prices, its the same here in Denmark.

List price for diesel is £1,08 and £1,09 for petrol pr. liter. atm.

because you use less of it maybe?

Slightly cheaper up here in Edinburgh.

Filled up lastnight at £1.05 for Tesco super :)

not to rub it in but i pay 100 euros for 140 liters of super unleaded,

the joys of being a british squaddie in germany

I think you guys deserve it though. I wouldnt mind paying that down Tescos  id never stop driving.

Wonder how much it would cost to fill a Army Tank up with fuel on the forecourt here!

Average price for diesel in edinburgh area is 111.9 highest I have seen is 115.9, and it's set to continue to rise!

I'm seriously considering doing my bike test for commuting !

Shell in Cheltenham was £1.02 the other day, always seems to be a lot cheaper than everywhere else. if they can afford to sell it at that, why cant everyone else?

if you are thinking of coming to cornwall this easter i suggest you sell the family jewels before you come as ive just paid £1.17 per litre for my weekly fill up(diesel) which all goes on getting to work. maybe we should borrow a fuel tanker and hide it somewhere only briskodians know .

damm thats gone up!!!!!!! bet it was when they switched to euro's,we used to get 10l for 5dm,so abou £1.25 for 10 litres:D

Over the past week I have paid anything between 109.9p per l and 120.9p per l for Shell V-power..... kind of getting used to it now

As we filled up in Tesco last night we hear the clerk take a call and come off it saying that it had gone up another penny.

Cheapest I can get super is 109. Diesel is 111.

It's not going to get better either with oil being bought as an investment like gold.

I just paid £1.139. So thats £1.14 in real money for super in Cardiff

I paid £123.9p for BP Ultimate Derv. Nearly fell on my *** when the price came up on the pump display :o

That's why I only put twenty quids worth in the tank :(

The price of crude has been falling of late so hopefully it will all calm down a bit when the forecourt prices catch up.

I last filled up 2 weeks ago (still got 1/2 a tank left  :D) and the price was £1,09.

I really don't know what it's gone up to now around here but I tend to wait until I go and visit my parents as it tends to be 2-3p cheaper over near them.

As we do our weekly shop in Tesco I tend to get 5p off per litre coupons which help a lot.

I know that Tescos - just about a mile or so from Hockmeyers, the ex-Skoda, now Daisplatsu dealers! Had a sarnie at Tescos for lunch about 4 years ago when Hockmeyers sold proper cars and i was thinking about buying one off them.(A Skoda, of course!).

Totally agree, fuel is way way too expensive in this country.I reckon we should all buy cheap Red Diesel and use that. What are the chances of ever getting stopped and 'dipped' - never happens to a car driver, mainly trucks/commercials. I did it for 7 years and never got dipped once.It was too tempting at 25p a litre.I'd do it again tomorrow if i had a diesel. There are many scaremongers who say it wrecks your engine etc, thats rubbish, its normal diesel with a dye in it, thats all, and it doesnt smell any different or make your car smoke more. And you also get the added thrill of knowing you are screwing the government!

Personally I'd be careful about posting info like this on a public forum. Things like this have a habit of turing round and biting you on the ****. Just ask people that have had warranty work refused and their warranties voided by SUK because of mods they've chatted about on here.

Just a friendly heads up.

LPG is probably the short term answer, Bonus being if you "happen to have ; LPG heating for the house & one of those bulk tanks in the Garden its the same stuff but you dont pay fuel duty on it ;);) It happens a lot aparently in rural Ireland. To do it properly make sure you have an in line filter for the fuel going into the car. An apparently new bulk tank can often be an old one resprayed & might have some small bits of rubbish in, a domestic heating boiler can often cope with it but it might cause problems in a car
