Hello, this is my first post.

I have a '98 felicia slxi 1.6, and a few gearbox problems.

I get an intermittent rattling when the car is not in gear - either in neutral or with the clutch pressed down. Sometimes if I put it in neutral, it rattles, and when I press the clutch it disappears, othertimes pressing the clutch makes no difference.

Also the syncromesh doesn't seem to work too well - I can't engage 1st gear unless I'm literally going at walking speed, unless I double de-clutch. Also I have problem selecting 2nd or 3rd gear as I'm accelerating if I rev the engine too much and change gear too quickly.

I also get a 'knock' from the gearbox sometimes if I'm in first or second gear and I suddenly let go of the gas.

Don't know if these problems are related, of if anyone can help, or if it's anything to worry about. Many thanks everyone.

Sounds like the gearbox oil is seriously low, or the clutch release bearing has given up.
