Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

Hi all.

This probably should be in 'Technical' but it's been a while since I last posted so I'm not that familiar with the site layout, however...

I have a problem with my 2003 Octavia vRS hatchback:

Came to unlock the car yesterday morning only to find that the rear offside door won't release itself (via the central-locking remote)! The button doesn't pop-up as the other three do. Opening manually, from within, also fails to open the door, although this does at least make the button rise! Interestingly, the rear electric window switch doesn't work. I can't make it move from the front (all windows) panel either. The operation of all the other doors & windows is absolutely fine.

Therefore, I'm guessing that something in the wiring-loom relating to this door and window only must have become disconnected somewhere along the route? Thing is, where do I begin to look to locate any connecting parts? Do I (can I) prise off the internal trim that is housing the front seat-belt and expect to find something inside there? Trés frustrating indeed.

Any help most appreciated.

Best...

Yeah I believe the loom connector in the door can cause problems, Id take a peek in there to make sure its sound.

There is a 10 way connector on the b pillar that feeds to the door ,you may be able to reach it by opening the drivers door (cant be sure as my car is 150 miles away ).there is also a connector 18 way on the bottom of the electric window motor and a lot of wires for the door seem to go through this connector so if it comes off it may affect the locking but to get at it you need the door trim off

I actually have a spare loom for a rear door and looking at the wires in it I think that if the pillar connector is still connected then the tweeter in the door will work ,everything else is looped though the electric window connector
