I've collected the Rapid.....have a look!

Featured Replies

Collected the Rapid last night - see my thoughts on it in the other thread - sorry couldn't figure out how to change the title to alert people of these photos.

The car is dirty and needs a damn good cut, possibly more :( but there is not a single bit of corrosion anywhere to be found so fix the paint somehow and she's a beut!!

Very dirty inside and out............

And check out all the spares - i could start a shop!!

Nice. Tell me the octy 17s didn't come with it. ;)

Looks really good, a good clean up and you'll probably have great car.

Sorry I was just about to groan....Another Regal Red Rapid, However that looks fantastic with the bodykit. Ive never seen a regal red Rapid with a bodykit before and it really suits it.

Amazed at the condition of the seats also

Looks like a lovely car you have there :)

Looks great! A good looking old-skool Skoda!

nice

You've scored, mate!

you lucky bast***, nice car mate well done

:) Beautiful. :cool::thumbup:

Very nice indeed!

Looks really good

y'know, if you fitted a set of lowering springs to that car, it may well go down as the single most important thing you ever did with your life.

at about £70, you can justify it too :D

Nice.

The Sport kit suits in in Regal Red.

Just needs some K+N Minators now...

That looks a real beauty:thumbup:, well done, also I reckon that paint will respond great to 4 hours hard work or so with T-cut and wax.

Dont polish too hard on that regal red, it doesnt like it!!

Please don't T-cut it, far too aggressive.

Love it

Oh sorry about the t-cut comment :(, I just used it on a '95 Fav as polish (G10) wouldn't touch it and it worked a treat, paint is hard as glass on it, but thinking about it, the older rapids were in cellulose weren't they? so yes better to be more gentle probably

Thanks for all your comments - im very happy with it.

I plan to get the paintwork as good as poss and then just enjoy it as it runs very well and im having great fun.

What would you suggest for doing the paintwork - method and product?

I was just gonna 'mop' it with some cutting compound and then wax like mad?

Also, my drivers side wiper arm has a mind of its own - tried to tighten it but frightened to tightened too much but it just like to start its sweep too far up the screen and then swipe off the side?

Im just not bothering with the wipers at the mo but its hard when the snow drifts are higher than the car and the snow is horizontal!

A good result there.. very nice indeed....

That's a rather difficult question. You don't want anything too aggressive and preferably a porter cable to help the task. I would most likely use Megs 83 depending on the condition of the paintwork, follow it up with Megs 7 glaze, a decent sealant (probably Megs 21) and Collinite 915 wax.

Try using AutoGlym colour restorer if you don't want to use t-cut.I used to T-Cut all my Estelles and rapids and never had any problems with paint wear.A good quality polish will really bring out the shine afterwards too.Rather than buy lowered springs, I used to angle gring 2 coils off the fronts and one coil off the backs - cars used to sit a lot better and handled great too.Theres a really great front grille on ebay at the moment too.Its by Czech company called ellri, the grilles design is called 'Radical'.The seller is 'boroskoda', a specialist in rear engined skoda stuff both new and used.(Also does all Skoda models, but has loads of new spares and tuning bits for older models.)

Enjoy the Rapid, it sure does look nice!

Your car looks brilliant. Really tidy, inside and out

Nice piece of Kit!

Me Im not into red - prefer blue!

Got any upgrades planned?
