Hi just to introduce myself and what could possibly be my next project..So to begin a local fellow has some used spares for my Austin A40 farina and when I call to collect there is a D reg Skoda 105 sitting in the garage..I enquire and the guy says its scrap :confused:..On further investigation this car appears to be in realy good condition so I ask why and it turns out his son owned it ,lost interest..it stood some time before a decision to sell was made and then the clutch gave out moving it into the garage..So when the egg sized lump went down on my head...combination of bad timing,the wife and a frying pan:scared: I can have the car for scrap money!! So before I dive in and drown could someone tell me if the 105 can be put on a classic insurance policy,are parts easily available? and can things like lowering springs etc still be had readily?...Cheers for any help you can give:thumbup:

Daverapid,thanks for the welcome! you know of this car,its the one that boycie is struggling to collect over on RR..The owner is now moving house so have PM,ed Boycie and if it looks like he will not make the sale date will collect the car myself and try to put it back on the road...dont want to see it scrapped which is what will happen soon,saw marks father this week and he has told me this has been hinted at and asked me if I could do anything..the wife reacted with the expected reply:orb_no_no but I convinced her that we are to old to camp now and need to get rid of the trailer tent,thus making room for the skoda..seemed to be going well till she turned up with a tent:eek:...if I do end up with the car I appear to be in for some rough revenge weekends...!!

Right then,here,s a pic of the A40 for mathepac,then a pic of the Renault 5GTt we got last year and finaly the only pics of the 105 I have ,sent by the present owner..The speedo pic has the car as having done 20,000 miles but how true this is I do not know till i look at the car again...

Oh sorry and thanks to all who have welcomed me...

Sorted out a time to look at the car..This Friday evening so if all goes well will try and get some more pics up of the car (weather and light allowing!) and update all who may be interested in condition and mileage etc..

Looks very much that way mattandy..It all hangs on the usual rot places being in reasonable condition,which seemed to be good when I 1st looked at the car a few months ago,car has been stood for 18 months and some of this time was outside but about 12 months ago the clutch went and it was stored in a garage.If I feel there is too much work and I have to little time to do the car I intend to get it back home and make the car available to someone here so as it does,nt go scrap.....

Please don't mention the S - word!!

Really hope the resoration goes well - definitely worth saving.
