My fabia's opened its mouth

Featured Replies

Finally got round to opening up the crash bar and bumper today to allow more air into the cooler.

Heres some pics, before you say the mesh is on the outside. I just havent thought up a plan for attaching it yet so its staying off for the time being. :D

that looks brilliant m8...

very masculine... ;)

mean and moody, I like that mate.

Davy

nice one:thumbup:

If that's the crash bar you've cut up, how will it affect your insurance. Will they still honor a potential claim, also I wonder if you'd loose a star or two from ncap hehe.

That aside it looks great. Good job...

Nice job mate, on attaching the mesh on the inside use a glue gun or evo grip. Blobs round the edge will hold it a treat:thumbup:

Nice  looks very aggressive

good job on getting it fitted before the dog ate it :P

Good man. You know it makes sense. I see what you did there too, good thinking.

Looks good

It does make sense you were 100% there Dave

 I wasnt too scared about cutting the crash bar, used the still saw with a steel blade in, in the end

But I was bricking it cutting the bumper, for which i used a staney knife that i kept warming the blade up with the MAP gas gun :D Has given a nice finish.

The only thing I hate now is the Forge lettering. Wish i had ordered without now :(

Which leads on to my next question, can you paint an intercooler without impeading on its performance. I am thinking satin black for the ultimate stealth fitting ;)

Looking good think it looks much better on black than silver. Like your idea behind the crash bar, but surely it would be better to remove and replace with a thin solid bar? plus it would look more tidy.

Yes :) Nice thin coat of matt black should do it :)

Yep, a spray on matt finish would be fine I'm sure, just keep it as thin as possible ;)

Love the bumper, and like the idea of the crash bar, but it just doesn't look right imo :(

Just to add, I think when everything matches black, it will look much better. :)

Yes you can, I had mine done by a local bodyshop in a matt black finish, virtually impossible to detect/know what it is to the untrained eye, albeit mine is on a MkII Octy.

Nice job btw :)

New problem, I am not entirly sure i like the Ripspeed mesh. Its doesnt seem to cover anything up and just looks like the hole is still open.

So been looking at cars that have large front grills in the hope to buy one and mod it to fit in the fabias new opening.

And I think i have found the perfect candidate. Its my sisters volvo s40 sport.

If i buy 2 of the grills and butcher them so they fit together and then fit inside the hole.

Stick with the mesh imho.

Ha, found a better one, Octavia 2 lower center grill. two of them would fit the hole nicely and match the top grill :D

I think the wide mouth does look better on a black car compared to silver as its less obvious

What I don't like is when the number plate goes on the side of the bumper, I prefer symmetry

Thanks steve

Actually went to work today to make up a square motorbike plate for the front............. Then realised the errors in my ways

Making up a highly illegal small oblong plate with bike lettering :D Lets see how long it is before i get pulled for it

I got mine from demonplates.com, its an import size, but the lettering is correct, just the plate is smaller. No problems yet.
