Hello, thanks and Octavia II pulling to the left!

Featured Replies

Hi Folks!

Just wanted to say hello as I haven't posted before, and also thanks. I've been browsing Briskoda for some time and found the answers to all that I was after. Many thanks to all!

I'm about to go for an Octavia vRS estate and had a quick question. Has anyone found that they pull to the left (or right). I have no reason to believe they do, and 3 drives in different cars have been fine, however, I found the threads relating to the Fabia pulling to the left and was wondering...

The reason I ask is that I have owned two new cars in the past that pulled to the left and when all the usuals were ruled out (tracking, tyre pressures etc), was told by dealers that "they all do that". Unfortunately though, I'm a bit sensitive to this, and ended up selling both cars. So, now I'm a bit paranoid!!

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks again.

Steve.

If the car has been PDI'd properly then it should be fine but there have been cases of cars being delivered with tyre pressures way too high. You might want to check out the rear camber settings at a later date, there were issues of abnormal inner tyre wear but that should have been addressed by now.

Welcome to the forum btw

The Octavias I've driven don't pull no, although you are right, the Fabias seem to have a very slight tendancy to pull left.

Do you mean 'pulling' to the left as is having difficulty holding a straight line or jumping left when applying brakes? Or do you mean if going down a normal straight road & you let go of the steering wheel there is a tendancy for the car to vear slightly left. If it's the former then there's something mechanically wrong, if it's the latter then it could be down to most UK roads having a camber to the left & the car following the normal track.

Alan...

I've had no 'pulling left (or right)' problem with my vRS; and I've seen no particular mention of this.

Don't get paranoid, just get your car ordered/bought and enjoy it. :D:thumbup:

At least you haven't asked the perennial "should I buy a TFSI or TDI?" and "what's the fuel consumption?" questions that have been asked countess times. ;)

Welcome to Briskoda; BTW.

Many thanks. It's nice to hear things are ok!

Phaeaton - I was just referring to a pull to one side when driving normally on a straight road, not a camber pull, but something more significant. I've had two cars, that did this abnormally.

Bahnstormer - I know what you mean! But, I know which one I want, and the mpg of it etc!

I have to say, I have had a few nice cars in the past, but the Octavia vRS is a fabulous car. Really great to drive, practical, safe and nice looking. Great value! I really can't wait to get it!

Thanks again for comments and welcome!

Steve. :)

Good that you know your own mind and can make a decision.

but c'mon tell us all; which one do you want! :D

For what it's worth, the electromechanical steering on the Octavia not only automatically helps in straightening the wheel after taking a turn, but also compensates for side wind... so really, if the servo is working not only should it never pull, but also it should automatically correct any such tendency due to winds... pretty cool, don't you think?

Stefan - That is really interesting. I didn't realise that, but it is really good to know!!!

Bahnstormer - I'm going for a Silver vRS estate, petrol, with curtain airbags, active head restraints, privacy glass, maxidot and xenons (plus free upgrade valid until Monday)!

Really looking forward to it!

Top marks - Good 'stealth' car (silver) and the right spec; climate/18s, maxidot and xenons; :thumbup:you'll love it I'm sure. :D

Yup, the MkII Octavia is excellent at 'ignoring' camber. I really appreciate that quality.
