timing belt for vrs

Featured Replies

When replacing the timing belt on a vrs does the all the front grill have to be taken off to get to it?

or is the engine layed out the same way as golf 130?

There is a thread on here and it's pretty new and it has the details for the timing belt change on a fabia vRS

Ben

:D I wrote a guide its in the guides section of the site.

The engine is transverse in the fabia so to get to the timing belt you have to strip down the drivers side wheel arch line and remove the drivers side top engine mount. But of a ball ache but better than paying 350 notes :D

As above, wheel arch liner out from the O/S and top engine mount as well. Make sure you put a jack under the engine though so as not to damage the other mountings. The front grille can stay on. Make sure the water pump and other pulleys have no play in the bearings before refitting otherwise it may all have to come off again so its cheaper and less hassle to replace any whilst doing the belt!
