Puncture Woes!

Featured Replies

Is it just me? Am I doing something wrong? Just got my 4th puncture in 16 months/28,000 miles of ownership! All have been on the stock Continental tyres (I replaced the rears with Marangoni Zeta Lineas last time out and the fronts were going to be next!).

Its not where I park my car...the last 2 have been nails on the motorway. The one before that god knows where - picked it up on the way home somewhere. And the one before that was leaving an industrial estate, which is reasonable I suppose. But still...having driven for 6 years and well over 100,000 miles puncture free before I got my Fabia, I now seemed plagued by them! The killer is, all of them so far have needed new tyres too.

Does anyone else have this problem....:o

I haven't got this problem but it may well be worth looking into tyre insurance from the AA or somewhere else. Might help with the costs

Bloke in the corner of the pub has a mate who thinks the tyre manufacturers are short of cash at the moment.:D

I just had to have a near brand new tyre replaced, screw through the inside sidewall, must have picked it up from the gutter while parking half up the curb.

According to a 'mechanic' friend some years ago most punctures happen in the wet.

Usually on the rears - the fronts flick up the metal so that the rears 'pick it up' - and with the tyres and metal being wet the object is more lubricated and so penetrates more easily.

Punctures are extremely frustrating. Especially when the tyres have a decent amount of tread on them.

I think they happen in phases as I managed to have about 3 in 6 months a few years back. Not had any since fortunately (touch wood!) :D

Yep, I'd agree there!

Nothing for a while then a couple come along at once!

Well at least thats one thing I can b thankful for, they have all happened in the dry! 2 on the rears, 2 on the fronts. All punctures have been on the nearside - most likely place for road debris I guess :(
