vRS mats - keeping them in position?

Featured Replies

Hi folks. New here, have a 2003(53) vRS. Love it.

However, the vRS mats have lost a couple of the little plastic clips which hold them in place and I'd like to find a source of more - anyone know of a cheap online retailer who could send me up a few? Though it doesn't bother my wife, I find that when I drive, my massive clod-hopping feet drag the unrestrained mat toward the clutch which is a big no-no... so it's either: find new clips, or ditch the mats (which I'd much rather not do).

cheers,

John

I'm sure the mats come complete with new clips... is it the bit thats attached to the mat or to the car carpet thats missing?

I find that the clip under the clutch comes off and the mat rises, making for a horrid clutch feeling (no idea how it effects the feel so much).

It's just the little clip that attaches through the mat and locks into the floor carpeting. I need around five. Would prefer to stock up, so to speak, maybe a box of ten or so (just in case). Otherwise, mats are fine, minimal wear, look good, no plans to change...

Ethos: agree- that's EXACTLY what happens to mine, except as I'm down to two clips the whole thing starts heading engine-ward...

Someone tried sourcing some a while back and couldnt get them without purchasing the mats.

I had a load missing when I bought my octy and asked the Skoda Parts dept in Swindon how I was to go about getting some. They did advise that they only come with the mats, however, they also suggested that some fleet/lease car purchases put their own mats in, therefore the clips that are supposed to be installed at the PDI dont get installed. To cut a long story short, the chap there handed me a handful of brand new ones FOC...

I get the impression that I was lucky with this, although it might be worth asking...

Cheers

Rob
