Brakes warning

Featured Replies

I've just spent several very frustrating days due to a couple of minor moments of dumbness. First I ordered some new discs all round with Mintex extreme pads. So far so good. Got a tool to rewind rear pistons - not so good. Shop gave me the wrong sort, partly my fault should have checked, so as the car was in bits had to make the best of it with some "modification". Apart from warning people to get the right tool, the main reason for this post is to tell people to make sure they press the piston in quite hard otherwise it just spins round and round:mad: this seems to be something not mentioned on various guides on here, and may be obvious if you've done it before, but frustrating if your new at it. It was just after I managed to finally get the pistons in that I found out that the rear discs were 7mm too small, then it was Easter, so the replacements didn't turn up till today:eek: Meaning that I missed playing in the only snow of the year:mad: and had to drive swmbo's Citroen Xsara with maybe 3 or 4bhp, heavy stearing and no handling. Tonight I finally got my car back and strangley if feels really quick;) Just got the front brakes to do now.

Fronts are easier.

Glad your back on the road

Unfortunatly I already know as the only reason I'm doing the fronts is because my recent change to 312mm discs shudder:mad: so I'm doing them again after only about 3k:eek: Never mind hopefully the Extremes might offer an improvement - not that there was anything wrong with the previous ones stopping power - just juddering:( My fault for buying cheapskate Mintex box set off Ebay. Won't be doing that again.
