My friends also on elephant, he's 19 too and has a Leon Cupra R cost him £1500

I'm with elephant as well!

Must be the postcode? Although I'm in quite a nice area :P

Mine at the moment is £1100 on a 1.9tdi, 20 years old, no NCB and a claim.

And does the MR elephant know about your re-map etc ;)

I think back to when i was 19 and no-one would touch my golf because it was so heavily modded. Cost me £2800 on my dads just 3rd party. Was worth every penny though cos it dint half shift :D

Some of the mods - not the remap as i bought it off Skoda like this so i do not know anything!

for 312's and different alloys it was another £86

That explains all ;)

What about the 'Big Mouth' mods? Has anyone told an insurance company about the bumper getting replaced with a crashbar etc. and how much does this increase the premium?

Best hope they don't read Briskoda then!

Yer my insurer was unsure how to classify this so hes put it under front bumper "bodykit" and its also described in the crash bar mod and FMIC kit. So i think i am covered :D

Well I finally got round to sorting the insurance out. Despite my best efforts they weren't prepared to cut the cost of my renewal so I had to cancel my renewal and get a new policy instead. Being in a somewhat stroppy mood I've sent off the following letter to the head of customer services...

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to complain to you about your renewals procedure. Every year at renewal time you consistently quote me a higher price to renew than I could get if I was a new customer. This year you have excelled yourselves with what I can only describe as a 20% customer loyalty premium. I can get the same price as a new customer so long as I am prepared to go through the hassle of stopping the renewal on my existing policy and taking out a new policy. This is ludicrous and wastes both my time and the time of your staff at the call centre. I have just been on the telephone for half an hour to your staff which could have been entirely avoided and presumably will not be doing your customer service metrics any good. Could you please note for future reference that I will be checking all further renewal quotes against the price on your website and those from price comparison sites on the internet. To streamline the renewals process in future years I suggest that you do not attempt to add a surcharge to my renewal over that quoted for an identical policy on your website.

Now I'm just waiting to see if I get a bite.:D
