Need Help Choosing

Featured Replies

I've got a budget of 7k and I'm looking for a Fabia. Preferably I'd like one with a bit of oomph (but my boy racing days are over) and I'll be doing about 60 miles a day to/from work.

What's the difference between the Elegance/Comfort/Ambiente/Classic models? Are they just extras?

Thanks

Ian

Do you want a vRS?

There are a few for sale on here.....

( cough!)

if you want the oomph then you want the vRS and you still get the good mpg

Whilst a vRS would be nice, my boy racing days are over! Also don't want anything too fast cos the wife will also be driving it!!

vRS dude, they arent that quick anyways, best looking fabia's by far and have good spec too, insurance is low as is tax and running costs,

If you dont want the rs next best bet is the tdi (which is just basically a cooled down vrs) doesnt have the nice looks though

I have the 16v sport ( 75hp ). 1.4.

Got some good push behind it too

It all depends on what you are used to, and subsequently get used to.

My vRS is quicker than most, but compared to my mates Evo. it's a slug.

And it's not as nice to drive as my other mates Mk2 Golf GTi.

Horses for courses and all that.

vRS definitely. Nothing else in the Fabia range quite has the oomph you're looking for, but it ain't ridiculously fast - it's certainly not a boy racer car.

Appreciate what you are saying with boy racer days being over but 130 bhp is not all that immense. The standard VRS does not look too agressive in my opinion and ride comfort is good.

It is only really a boy racer car if you mod it to make it one. Motorway MPG of 50 odd is not shabby at all!

If you thik the vRS is too racer-ish , why not go for the 1.9 TDi Elegance? This had the 105 BHP diesel engine so its not slow , and also has good economy , it has heated seats and alloys as standard and older versions had 4 electric windows (newer ones were pared back on the spec , for some reason , and only get front elec windows). The other advantage of an Elegance is that it doesnt stand out in a crowd , which (probably) means thats its less likely to be nicked and comes with lower insurance. £7K should get you a proper minter.

I have to agree I had a Vrs for a few months and everybody wanted to race me. now I have Fabia Elegance 1.9 Estate nobody wants a race but it shocks a few people when I put my foot down.:D
