CO2 of 2.0Tdi DSG

Featured Replies

The log book of my '55 2.0Tdi DSG estate (L&K) says the CO2 level is 165. However, the Skoda site claims 158 g/km.

Which is correct and can I get the log book changed? - lower VED in future!

The information on the Skoda site is current so the CO2 of your '55 L&K may well be different to the current model L&K.

Just a guess really, you could do with access to the CO2 data valid at the time your car was built to confirm it.

Failing that, speak to SUK CS, they may be able to help.

There is a link on the Inland Revenue site to the official web-site giving CO2 figures for cars.

Bear in mind that if you have extras your car may have a different CO2 figure from standard.

See VCAcarfueldata.org.uk - Home Page

or CO2 Emissions Data

The first gives the right figure for the car I have on order, the second does not!

Also bear in mind that once the CO2 figure for a car has been set and registered onto the V5 - DVLA will not change it!

My 2007 2.0tdi manual has the new lower figure of 145g/km, it used to be 151 I think. It changed in the middle of last year IIRC so it could indeed be that your car is higher than the current version with DSG.

The manufacturer declares the C02 including all options, etc. and once set can't be changed. Auto/DSG gearboxes can obviously make a difference but also alloy wheels.

On Smart cars for example a few people suggested to new buyers to buy without alloys/optional bigger one's so it came in at the £35pa rate and retro-fit them afterwards when it didn't affect the official rating.

I suspect they wouldn't have a problem changing it if it went up

Somewhat off the point but the new VW Polo 'Blue Motion' comes in at 99g/km so no road tax. One of the ways they reduce CO2 is by lowering the overall weight by having the spare wheel replaced with a puncture repair sealant kit. Presumably there's nothing to stop an owner buying a spare wheel later! I've no idea what the legal position would be.

I saw a Bluemotion Polo at the place I was working at. It has different wheels, a revised(ish) front end and a little spoiler on the back to lower the cd of the car. It has nice silver mirror covers though, I was tempted to swap 'em

It was a surprise to see the word 'nil' where most of see £1xx

Our April 2006 (06) L&K 2.0 TDi has a CO2 rating of 160 - so just squeezes into the new £145/yr category. I know - jutr paid the tax.

Surprised its that high...have a petrol 1.8tsi & that is only 176!

I know of 05 and 55 and 06 elegance 2.0 TDI's that come in at 149g so the current band C. Not sure how the L&K makes 160. Is it a DSG?

Yea - but it wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding! Not for me - even with Nil road tax!

Give it a decent engine and then the aero mods would be better employed. The wheels are quite smart and, according to marketing bumph are light weight; good performance mod there. :D

Don't get me wrong, it doesn't float my boat either, I would rather pay road tax and drive a car than can actually move.

Besides - I was more interested in stealing the mirror covers to see what they were like :D

It is a DSG - must make a difference.

So do I, my 55 reg 2.0TDi elegance does. DSG will have quiet an impact on the Co2 emissions.
