Heavy steering ?

Featured Replies

Hi

Wife is currently belting down one of our motorways from Belgrade to Zagreb as I write. She uses one of two Skoda, and at this time is driving the company 07 reg 1.9td tor elegant, and she tells me that the steering is far heavier than her Octy 2 1.9td pd 4x4 Amb 07 that she normally uses. Is there a reason for this, think both are still on winter tyres.

Ask her when she can, stop and turn the engine off.

Then grab, the steering wheel and try to move it, then start the engine. She should feel the steering wheel 'give' as the power steering comes in. If it doesn't then the power steering has a malfunction somewhere.

Other problems maybe low tyre pressures, or a puncture.

Cheers

Steering weight can be changed vis VAG COM IIRC

¸Hi

Sorry for late reply, wife returned last night to her office, then changed to her 4x4 Octy, before driving home. I do not think it was a malfunction, more a large difference after 3 months of driving the new Octy 4x4, then returning to the Octy tor 1.9tdi. She seemed to think it was heavier in traffic and on the motorway. We will however get the steering checked, thank you.
