Fabia TDI Estate

Featured Replies

I'm new around here and a search of the forum hasn't really yielded what I need.

I'm considering a Fabia TDI (probably Elegance level spec and 100BHP), is there anything I should look out for. ie any weak points. How well will the car handle on decent suspension? Economy good?

I know a fair bit about VAG cars (see my intro in the intro section) and have been looking at A2 TDI Sports but decided they're a little pricey. The Fabia might be a nice alternative.

Inspired by the look of this btw. :)

Anyway, I look forward to chatting with some of you.

That does look pretty sweet!! :D There's no common problems exclusive to the estate, it shares them with the hatch (and saloon) mainly front suspension woes, arb bushes and console bushes. Steering angle sensor on the power steering and evap temp sensor on the air con. I had to replace the power steering pump on mine at about 95K miles.

Water leaks too - watch out for damp carpets or stain marks on the door cards , this is a common Fabia problem.

I have owned my 1.9 TDI Elegance estate now for about 5 months and I love it. The heated seats are great in the winter months, cruise control I love, parking sensors come in handy and the boot is useful. Economy wise on the motorway the needle only moves after 100 miles ( when the fuel tank is full ). I have found that the turning circle is better then my 1.2 Fabia hatchback.

Economy good?
I'm on my second Fabia Estate - both have had the 1.9 TDi PD100 engine. The economy on the later, Euro 4-compliant engine (AXR engine code) is a few mpg worse than the earlier, Euro 3 version (ATD code). I get 52mpg when the old one was nearer 55.

The Euro 4 PD100 engine also suffers from the same "stutter" problem as the Euro 4 version of the PD130 engine in the vRS (well documented elsewhere on here).

As others have said above, they seems to have the same common problems as the hatch - there doesn't seem to be anything specific to the estate.

I've been pleased with both though (which is why I'm on my 2nd one ).

Welcome to the forum - hope you enjoy whatever car you choose.

Having bought David's old estate ;) - There are two sensor faults on the car, one is an engine related one, the other is the evap temp sensor one. It's done 230k+ now and for the rest (well maintained etc) it is in great condition.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it :)
