Toms Octavia Detail - Part 1!

Featured Replies

Well, Simon (Baker21) will be doing a full paintwork correction on my car next weekend, so thought I'd get the rest of the car up to scratch!!

First of all the engine bay. Sprayed with Megs APC 4:1 and left to dwell, agitated with a stiff paintbrush and rinsed off. All plasics dressed with Aerospace 303 Protectant.

Then the exhaust was polished with Autosol, seemed to take forever!! But looks loads better. :)

Then onto the interior.

All suede cleaned with AG Interior Shampoo, as were the carpet mats. What a stupid idea having pale grey binding on mats and white suede. Still, they came up nicely in the end.

The leather was done with Poorboys Leather Stuff (worked in with my fingers), and then buffed off. Then this morning (24hrs later) I gave them all a good rub down with an MF and lots of warm water, as I wasn't pleased with the streaky, glossy finish and the tackiness of the leather. Much nicer now. Gave the leather and plastics a good treatment with the 303.

Very pleased with how it all came up - like new. I know its only done 23k, but it looked like I was the first to clean it properly!

Sorry Tom - back on topic - interior and exhaust looking good.

The paintwork looks like it will present some "challenges" to Simon!

I can't see any of these pics at work.....................but Tom has already sent me some pics on the paintwork so I am looking forward to it, shouldn't be that much of a problem..............

Anyone 'mopped' an Octy 2's paintwork yet? Usual hard VAG paint / lacquer is it?

come on what do you think?

id put good money on typical VAG paint like the MK5 Golf :(

Well I am not too sure........did a BMW and a Merc over the last two weekends and to my surprise they seemed easier to correct than the VAG paint!!!!

Guess it may take some time................

Could potentially be an unknown quantity with it being a solid colour? I assume it still has laquer though rather than tradional one-stage solid paints...?

Roll on Saturday!
