CF Roof?

Featured Replies

Just was a new M3 today, white with carbon fibre roof, pretty slick. According to Top Gear it's to lower the centre of gravity. Has there ever been a similar part made by some madman somewhere for the fabia?

Got me thinking after seeing the CF bonnet in the group buy section. Would be a pretty cool mod as the Fabia does seem a little wallowy and top heavy at times.

(Just thinking out loud )

You've got far too much money!

Why would anyone do a CF roof for a shopping trolly? Fit a RARB or buy an Caterham. No roof to worry abou then.

I was speaking hypothetically of course! I had barely enough cash to buy my Furby, let alone anything else! :)

I guess anything is possible, but you would want to install some kind of rollcage to maintain the structural rigidity in the event of an inversion, so the overall weight saving is perhaps negligible. If you ever look behind the roof lining, you'll notice that the roof is only really a single layer of steel so in the grand scheme of things I don't reckon it's going to make a huge difference. You need to shift weight off the front! ;)

Removal of aircon - minus 15kg

Carbon fibre bonnet - minus 15kg

9lb flywheel over stock DMF - minus 8kg

Battery in the boot - 10kg from front to back

That's how to help a lot. :D Shifting nearly two bags of cement off the front axle. ;)

They way you lot talk it sounds like Fabias are prone to rolling over!

Such a thing could never happen!
