Fault or Feature?

Featured Replies

It may always have done this but I've just spotted it and wondered if it was normal or a fault.

When I operate the right hand electric mirror the left one moves too. The left control only moves the left.

It's handy when parking as I can lower both mirrors at once so I wondered if it is a cunning feature!

It is a feature, but it's a complete pain in the @rse. :D I noticed on the '04 Fabia they have gone back to having separate left and right controls which is much better! :D

We find a great idea. Being as we are almost 1 ft difference height wise me and the wife, the mirrors need adjustment for change of driver.

Once you have them dialled in for your persoanl preference, when you need to adjust them back its great as you know they are going to be both set as they travel at indentical speeds and travel.

One thing it has done is teach my wife near side mirror adjustment and how to get most out of it, and at least I also know the near side mirror is going to be set correctly and safely.

3 positions on the knob. R (moves left and right), ~ (squirly bits to indicate the heating is on) and L (moves only left). Read the flipping manual :P.

Well bugger me!

I've read the manual back to front but skipped the electric mirror adjustment as I thought "Which numptie needs instructions on how to alter the mirrors!" :D:D

Dont worry.......the previous service manager of my local VW Van Centre, who used to be on the car side and who drives a Passat (on his 2nd) company car, didnt know either about the dual sided mirror adjustment.

Shame it took a Skoda driver to point this out to him :D

Its quiet a handy feature, just remember to adjust the drivers mirror before the passenger side otherwise you'll wonder whats going on.

I don't understand the demist feature either, why not just demist them when you use the rear demister? That's what my old car did and it seemed sensible.

Dave, I believe thats the way they work. The demist option on the control allows you to demist just the mirrors whilst not using the rear heater.

We find a great idea. Being as we are almost 1 ft difference height wise me and the wife, the mirrors need adjustment for change of driver.

Ditto that. Obviously for when I drive her car. Not for when she drives mine. That just wouldn't be........right

Also, DaveH, quite often you need to demist the mirrors but not the rear screen ie it dries off rain water. My knob is always dead centre :D Where's Rob when you need him?

My knob is always dead centre :D

That's a lie, i've seen how you walk :P
