Photoshop help please

Featured Replies

I'm having issues! I open a photo in chop, thats fine. Now normally, if I then open another, or drag it in then it appears alongside the other so I can mess withthem both. For some reason mine has taken to opening it INSTEAD of the one I have already got open. I need to photoshop some pics for my college thing, for which I still haven't had chance to take all the ones I need to, so I am getting royally p!ssed off now :). Thanks in advance for any advice......

Loz, Is it putting it on to different layers? or different windows? It is probably best that you select the image then click 'New Layer' then work on several layers and combine them all together at the end.

i just cant open 2 pics together. normally it just lets you open more and more and cut them up and paste them together etc. I can't.

It's not that you've switched screen mode to Maximised or Full Screen is it? Do all open docs show up in the Window menu or is it literally closing the open doc? (does it ask you to save?)

If I understand you correctly then its closing the document that is already open.

ie - I open a photo in photoshop, it comes up as the background layer. now normally, if I then click open and pick another photo, or indeed if I drag another one into chop it will open it alongside the original image, but instead it is opening INSTEAD of it, making it the background layer with no trace of the old one. This isn't really convenient when I'm trying to chop one image onto another

What version of PS are you running?

If you've edited an image and then open a new one - if it's actually closing the first (edited) one then it should be at least asking you if you want to save it first. Otherwise it's either still open somewhere or there's a big error in Photoshop.

If your documents are showing in the window menu, then they are open, and it may just be that you have turned on Max/Full view and it only shows you one at a time. Or does it actually close the open file and remove it from the window menu?

I haven't tried to edit the first one, basically I wanted to cut something off the second one to put onto the first. On my old PC, with PS CS2, it just lets me open another photo, lasso something, copy it, paste it onto background, job done. On my new PC its CS3. When I go to open the pic that I want to chop up and paste on, it opens it AS the background, instead of leaving the background as the original image. I totally lose the first image, it's just not there.

Check the window menu after you've opened the second file. If they're both listed then go to View -> Screen Mode -> Standard Screen Mode if it's not ticked and see if that helps?
