Fabia 1.4 16V Sport Modifications?

Featured Replies

I have just brought an '05 plated Fabia Sport, it has only done 4,700miles.... No really!

I was just wondering what mods are available for the engine, I believe it has 75bhp and the car seems a little rev happy. I understand that the engine should be broken in before any mods should be applied, but I just want ideas for the future. Here is a picture of it for any one that wants to help me make it a better car ;)

All I need to do to the exterior is black out the windows and it's without a doubt a keeper

I'm happy now haha

All my dad has kept on saying to me since I came home from the garage is.. Find some vRS alloys  (I want Octavia ones hehe)

We asked at the garage and they said they are about £180 per wheel  (New of course)

I am going to order the K&N 57i induction kit, I just want to make sure that it will be fine on a newish engine?

Thanks for the help mates :o

Get rid of the Decals and sunstrip.

Some Octy 17's would look nice but i'm biased.

Then slam it on Coilovers and stick the vrs kit on ;)

I agree with the decal removal.

Not much you can do with a 1.4 petrol as far as performance goes. An induction kit may add 1-3hp, and maye a bit more with an exhaust upgrade.

can throttle bodies go into any petrol engine?

The problem with the 1.4-16v is that more power is expensive. I'd look to maybe get a panel filter and free flowing exhaust at most unless you want to sink big bucks into it. The easiest way to make it go faster is to shed some weight - back seat, spare wheel, etc can all go. Bigger (heavier) wheels will slow the car down so if you want to go bigger, look for some lightweight ones. Also get some decent suspension so once you get up to speed you don't have to scrub it all off for each corner.

Having said all that, I'm not sure what the differences are between that engine and the 1.4-16v 100bhp that is found in the Comfort and Elegance specs. Maybe the ECU can be remapped to boost it up to that amount?

I think I will get either a panel filter or a K&N induction kit, if they actually make one for my car. I would like to keep the decals on the car as it makes it more 'unique' which is what I am trying to achieve more than any thing.

Will the Seat Leon Cupra R front splitter fit on this car? The front spoiler is similar to a vRS (I know this because I compared it to my dad's car)

I will look for a nice set of lightweight alloys. I don't want to be rid of the seats etc because they may come in handy :P I was quite surprised at how well it picks up for a 75bhp 1.4 engine. It does seem a bit happy but I was cruising down the M2 at 75-80Mph in 5th gear and it was reading at 37-42MPG (Which was great I think)

I am going to have another look at it tonight because I can't pick it up until Friday because the garage is going to do a full service, 1yr tax and clean it all up for me :D

As for the ECU upgrade, if that is an option, I will definitely consider this as an option. If someone could find this out for me, I will be very grateful.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

Does any one know if a K&N Air induction Kit is actually available for a 1.4 16v engine?

I can find Pipercross kits but I am not too sure of the way they look. Thanks for the help.

I agree, I say look into what differences there are between your 1.4 16v 75bhp and the other 1.4 16v 100hp they do. It may be just a limited version, or perhaps some other subtle internal differences.

I have been looking for differences between the two etc, and looking for a nice induction kit, the only one I can find is the Pipercross kit, it is 69.50 which I guess isn't bad.

It will increase HP, Torque throttle response and give it a nice sporty sound. The power increase won't be much but rolling road tests estimate them at around 3-5bhp. Torque is the main increase.

Other than an induction kit, I should start looking for strait through pipes. Thing is, I don't want the car to attract unwanted attention (If you know what I mean )

I look forward to modding it in the future and I will defo keep every one informed on my progress.
