GearBox Oil / Power Steereng

Featured Replies

Hi,

I own a 1996 Felicia and I like it a lot, but I'm a 2nd hand owner and many thinks are missing, including manuals.....:worried:

so, I have a few questions, but I'll post here the most important now

1 - How do I check/refill/change the gearbox oil?

2 - in the top of the gearbox (near to the assembly whit the engine) there's an open hole, WHAT IS THAT FOR? WHAT IS MISSING THERE?

3 - the car has power steering system which seems to me like it is hydraulic (it's alike the chock absorber but without the springs), so if it's hydraulic , WHERE DO I CHANGE/REFILL/CHECK the power steering liquid? :confused:because right now it's a little hard to move, and sometimes it makes a wear sound....

Thanks

Morning!! Welcome to Briskoda!!!!!

I don't think te GB oil can be checkeed, just emptied and refilled through the speedo cable hole (beter explained somewhere else in the thread)

What open hole?

If you look where the bonnet opens you should see the PAS reservoir, you need a screwdriver to open and check the fluid levels.

What Felicia have you got?

Hi and welcome,

everything you want to know about gearbox oil change in this thread:

The "search" function here is a bit tiresome, I've never figured out how to narrow down the searches and "gearbox" gives you a lot of hits - but it is helpful!

As to your other questions I'm afraid I haven't got a clue. PS is hydraulic so I guess there must be a reservoir somewhere under the bonnet, just that I never thought about which one is which.
