Fabia 1.4 16v 2002 Engine management light

Featured Replies

Is it possible to disable the engine management light? The sensor is too sensitive and my main agent cannot help as it seems to be a design fault on 2002 models.

Take the bulb out ;) ?

Problem is, then something else could go wrong and you wouldn't know.

What error is stored when it lights?

Mine is on too at the moment due to a faulty lambda sensor heater. Car doesn't run right either until the the lambda senor has warmed up, fortunately only takes a couple of minutes, so it is not a desperate fix.

no you cannot disable the light, the car will not work, its part of the ECU mapping

The 'engine light' covers many things, some minor, some not so minor

You have to ask yourself "do we need all this information?"

I know when my car is not running correctly, I don't need a yellow light to tell me!

Back to the original post, being a 2002 1.4 16v, unfortunately, this may be piston ring related.

What bulb?, there are no bulbs in the dash panel - they are all surface mounted LEDs.

Sounds to me like the dealer is feeding you a line, which sensor is too sensitive?, that light can come on for any reason, it's more like they can't find the cause or it needs alot of money spending on it.

If you don't want to see the light paint the dash graphic black on its under side.

How long have you had the car and is it under warranty with them by any chance?

There is a design fault on some of these but the light isn't it. The guy working on the light managed to get it right.

Try and get them to give you the fault code. The light is informing you that there is a fault code that needs to be read off and investigated. There are some bods on here that can read it for you also or you can get a code reader from ebay to diy. Be best to get the code from the garage so we can all see which sensor they say is too sensitive.
