vRS Estate/Sedan - Identical Shock Adsorbers?

Featured Replies

As per topic, having a bit of trouble confirming if the shocks are the same on the sedan/estate - particulary the rears.

This stems from looking into FSD's for my RS, but Koni can't confirm yet on rears.

If they are the same as the sedan, it means the whole set is identical to the Golf V GTi, which obviously makes things easier - and cheaper..

So, has anyone got these on an ESTATE?

Cheers

Dan.

PS: Email sent to stealer and Koni for part numbers, no word as yet.. stay tooned..

I couldnt belive they were suitable for the estate also but according to Kate at JKM - Koni confirmed the parts as being fully compatible with the hatch and estate!

Its the one thing I really want to do after drivng an Eibach/FSD equipped Octy VRS (hatch).

Great.

So basically we can buy to suit a Golf GTi. The reason I ask is that there are lots of GTi's here, but sod all Octavia RS's (OZ).

Cheers mate, oh, and I take it you where impressed by the FSD/Eibach combo then ;)

Yes, the combination - I would say - is literally perfect. So, so much less jiggery than mine, just as tight but more composed in the bends and generally a comfortable no compromise (on the handling front) solution!

The only thing you need to check is whether you have 50 or 55mm damper units on your specific car - the tuners/dealers can usually confirm this from your chassis number.

Best of luck, let us know how it goes,

Lee

There are loads of threads on here about the FSD/Eibach combo all of them favourable

In answer to your orignal question (which has been answered but just to reassure you :o) the FSD's & Eibach's are the same for the Estate as they are for the Hatch. If you feel you'd like some reassurance contact either one of our site partners, JKM or Awesome both of which I'm sure would be happy to help.

Update:

General consensus is that estate/hatch are the same, and are identical to Golf GTi items. Just need to check if using 50mm or 55mm dia struts.

However.. After visiting my local stealer, the part number for the Estate rear shock is unique - i.e. it is not common to any other VAG part, unlike the front which came up the same as Golf/Eos. RS Hatch etc.

Also still no formal word from Koni or partners that it is the same/available.

I think the conclusion is that the part is available from Koni/partners, it will work, and it will fit, its just not 'officially' correct.

When funds arise I will be making the change to FSD's. :)

Not sure I like the sound of that personally. JKM checked with Koni and said the part numbers they had in stock were for the Estate as well as the hatchback - it was designed for both applications. As you say, it sounds like they may fit but have not been enhanced/re engineered for the estates different weight/load characteristics.
