Fuel flap sticking

Featured Replies

Hi I have noticed that my fuel flap sticks when you press it in - only opens when sometimes I lock/unlock the remote key making it pop out?

Has anyone else had this?

The first time I filled up with fuel I noticed that the flap did not close properly. It turned out to be the rubber lead, that stops the filler cap falling to the floor, had jammed behind the fuel flap hinge. I cured the problem by moving the lead away from the hinge end of the fuel flap. Does this help?

ive had the same porblem for a while loz. was going to spray some wd40 in the hole but havent got around to it

Had exactly this and did spray WD40 carefully on all visible parts including hinge area, and the rubber covered whatsit. Not the slightest trouble since.

Cheers, a can of WD40 maybe needed then!

To be honest, I was annoyed with the loss of the old release button inside the car for the fuel filler cap. I always thought that was a smart feature.

:iagree:

OK, removed rubber gromit and 1 squirt of WD40 applied, sorted

I had the same problem with my fuel flap

Asked the mechanic at the garage and he told me that the piece of plastic on the vehicle side that the fuel flap clicks onto swells a little and told me to carefully file a little off it.

When i looked at the bit he was talking about i could see where it was rubbing a couple of rubs with a file and it worked perfectly

Regards Whoosh:thumbup:
