What do ye think ?

Featured Replies

As some of ye know I had big probs with a set of TSW wheels I had bought for my last car (Honda Civic). Well after alot of hastle - TSW agreed to replace them, and allowed me to take my pick from a selection of wheels. Had a quick look and thought the Demons looked ok, and as my plan was just to get the wheels and sell them on ASAP. I said would go for them.

When they turned up and I saw them in the flesh - I thought no way I was selling them - they were going on the Octy , love the look of them, and now they are on the car I STILL love the look of them - BUT - to me they look a size smaller than the stated 17ins . Same size as I took off the car, wearing the same sized 225/45/17 rubber, but look smaller . Or they make the car look like it is riding higher - just something I cant quite place looks a little off.

So I am asking for your thoughts? I do really like the wheel, but can ye see what I am on about, or do ye think they look ok?

Thanks in advance,

Bryan

Lookin' good Bryan, seeing them on the Octy they remind me a bit of Jetta wheels.........only a bit bigger.

The suspension does look a little high now but then again if the wheels had only just been fitted when the photos were taken then the springs won't have dropped back to their normal height.

I know what you mean by saying they look a size smaller, I think it's because the Octy's arches can swallow such big wheels. Perhaps you should have opted for 18s or 19s!

Wheels were on several days by the time those pix were taken :rofl:

There was no option of going for bigger size really, replacement wheel had to be size for size, and even if I offered to pay extra for a size bigger, had a set of Toyo's in 17 sitting here waiting to be fitted :D

Sounds like a set of Eibach springs will soon be on the shopping list then....?

Dont know, really dont want the ride of the car to be any firmer than it is right now, and also have no idea of where to get them here, or how much they might set me back . You have any info on this for me :D

Awsome GTI seem to be the most popular place to source Eibachs on this side of the channel. I'm sure they can sort you out with a deal. Eibachs are supposed to be fairly smooth riding unlike most shortened springs. Also standard vRS springs will lower it a bit without messing the ride up.

I find the cheapest place to get stuff like Eibachs is ebay.de as the German sellers seem to be much cheaper than UK places, and also if you happen to already have the Euro you don't have to suffer the bad exchange rates we have at the moment!

Honestly mate I prefer the original ones, I think they are a nicer rim and really give it a classier look.

But you look for different things than me ;)

They may look different in the flesh or grow on me.
