Featured Replies

Did some enocunter the same problem?

Is it a known problem of Fabia's ?

Thanks

Shay

What engine?

That is alot of oil to be using. How are you calculating this?, have you kept a log of mileage and oil added?

Piston rings on the 16V AUA & AUB engines is a known problem.

Is it burning or leaking it?, what engine is it?.

I have the same problem with my FABIA 54 PLATE 1.4 16V. The car has had numerous visits to the SKODA DEALER as I had the Oil light come on asnd found the tank to be empty.

They performed numerous tests such as "weighing the oil" and myself having to drop the car off after 200miles for the useage to be measured.

Now I hope you are sitting down for this one!!

They have informed me with a piece of paper from SKODA that an acceptable oil consupmtion for this car is 1.5 Litres per 600 miles!!!!!!! mine came in at 0.74.

This has left me in a state of shock as I have never had a car that requires this much oil!.

I am however investigating this further!!

Hope this helps.

can you scan it and post it up, we can then send it to the motoring press. That's not something they mention on Parkers. Do Skoda know how much 'castrol edge vw' costs? You'd need a litre every 400 miles. If you were on the motorway thats nearly everytime you fill up. It's £44 / 4L from Halfords. Thats an extra £10 everytime you fill the tank.

If you refer to the "Driving Tips" or "General Maintenance" sections of your handbook you will find that this tells you that normal oil consumption can be as high as 1 litre per 1000 km. If I remember correctly, my old MkII Golf GTI handbook said exactly the same thing.

This is less than 1.5 litres per 600 miles though.

Spec is 1 litre per 1000km which we quote as 600 miles.
