Today I have mostly been .....

.......... fitting this.

Picked it up last week but had to wait for a couple of hoses that were on back order to come in. It really is a thing of beauty, very well made and hand welded.

The snow this morning kinda held things up a little and then I had a small job to complete on 'the other' project before I could start but I feel I made good progress only stopping because I need to buy some bolts tomorrow. She is in place and fits perfectly which was the main concern.

Very nice.

What's that do then!?

It's a replacment intercooler. Solid aluminium and slightly larger.

Is that an off-the-shelf S3 cooler?

Certainly looks good!

Noticed much of a difference Stu?

It's a bargain compared to the other intercoolers on the market, too.

Yes it's S3 Tom.

Car still isn't running yet H, gotta get some bolts tomorrow. The OEM has plastic end tanks which have the Radiator and Condenser screwed to them with Torx screws, the S3 cooler uses short M6 bolts.

Ok.

Let us know how you get on...this is probably the route I will take if and when I feel the need for an IC upgrade.

Lost me after the first picture..

I thought it was a new heated towel rail :o

I wouldn't have the guts to even look at the fitting instructions.

Err, well done though:D

I must admit my car does like it's been raped!! The front looks quite naked. :D

One thing you'll want to check Harry is the orientation of your Turbo outlet pipe where it meets the Intercooler pressure pipe.

I found out some time ago when I wanted to fit my Neuspeed outlet pipe that the locating indents are 45' out on my car original pipework and I notice that Neuspeed now offer two varients of the kit which probably to take account of this. Now I have been able to fit the Neuspeed pipe as well. :D

Probably to work and back a few times, couple of random journeys - Just the usual stuff, nothing funny

easy enough job to swap them over then?

Looking good. How much of performance difference will you see with it ? Or as mentioned is it prep working for something bigger ?

It isn't a bad job to be honest, could be done in a few hours.

It's not leading anywhere specific as yet and it has been on the back burner for some time pending the warmer weather. It's simply a nice OEM looking upgrade to the original intercooler which should hopefully keep inlet temps down.

Definitely looking like some preparations in progress hehehe ;) Will try to pop round at some point, not met up for ages due to circumstances :(

Mmmmmm nice

Tidy :D

Sorry, but I've had my head firmly stuck up my own ar5e to give a damn about anything else recently but now that I'm gradually calming down I can comment on this...........

................looks terrible ;)

Can't wait to see the overall effect Stu

The car is all back together thanks to some lovely stainless steel bolts from Screwfix but still not managed the road test yet.
