windscreen replacement

Featured Replies

My windscreen is due to be replaced as the result of a collision with a **** pheasant over the weekend. My concern is how does this home fitting service go, in respect of hitches, timescale etc. Autoglass say they will be here late Tuesday afternoon. I presume they will have to take the wiper arms and plastic covers off to get at the bottom of the windscreen. I gave up trying to get the arms off a year ago. Do they have pullers and all the equipment on hand?

I have used RAC Auto windscreens in the past (for the Octy), and they come fully equiped with all the appropiate tools to get the wiper arms and the scuttle panel off.

If they are doing it at your house they need somewhere sheltered to do it, garage, car port etc to let it dry. If there is no cover and a chance of rain they won't come out.

Also make sure they have the right screen apparently before 2003 the tint at the top was green and then it changed to grey. Had this problem when I had a new screen on mine, my car was made at the time they swapped over and they originally ordered a green tint and had to wait for the other to turn up.

Thanks Guys.

Yes I was asked what colour tint the screen was and that shelter was available. So fingers crossed. :(
