starting problem FABIA

Featured Replies

hello everyone.

I'm a paintings conservator and I own a Fabia 1.2 petrol hatchback, purchased new in 2006.

I'd say that this car is great and of good quality.

Never given me trouble till last weekend. I cannot start the car anymore!

When I turn the ignition key, I hear the fuel pump buzzing as usual, but nothing else works! The starting motor (or self-starter) does not work and thus my car remained stuck in my garage... which is located at the first floor (and unnaccessible by towing trucks). So I cannot take it to a Skoda workshop for checkup and repair.

Will be extremely grateful for all those of you who would reply and provide advice.

Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome

Hi and welcome!

starter or relay maybe? But that's pure guesswork. Best way of get a quick answer is to post your question in the relevant model discussin section:

Fabia - BRISKODA - The Skoda Forum and Community

Hopefully you'll get a few quick replies sending you along the right track

Welcome :)

If your car is less than 3 years old, don't you still have the free breakdown service from Skoda?

hello everyone ....warm welcome, THANKS :)

yes, i will post my future Fabia-related questions as indicated.

I have discovered that a thin wire was disconnected from the solenoid (of the starter motor). I do not know how this has happened! Thing is that I do not know how to remove the clip attached to the solenoid to reattach the wire... the clip has a strange and complicated red plastic slider...

and regarding the breakdown assistance, till now, i was not offered assistance until i would figure out a way of taking my car to the skoda workshop myself.

thanks guys.

Is there no way you could just coast the car down any ramps to the waiting tow truck using the handbrake to regulate your speed?

Just a thought, welcome to Briskoda though and hope you get it fixed soon

Hiya.

Can't help with the detail of your problem I'm afraid, but for future reference, even if the engine won't run, the handbrake still works, as do the footbrake and steering.

The footbrake and steering will be rather heavy due to the lack of the servo assistence, but they will still work!

Hello & welcome :)

Ben
