fabia steering pump from where?

Featured Replies

Hello - having now upgraded? from a felicia to a fabia (2002 but only done 10,000 genuine miles) I'm told that I need a power steering pump (have already forked out for a new battery, checked all wiring, oil, and an auto electrician says its the pump that's faulty not the sensor).

The question is can anyone tell me the best (cheapest, reliable, trustworthy) place to get one from.

My local dealer has come up with £550 plus oil and said that Polo pumps might be an alternative - as far as I can see they aren't as they are a different design to mine (6Q0423155AE). I am loathe to pay £550 but would prefer a new or guaranteed pump.

Can anyone recommend an alternative to the main dealer, has anyone had any positive ebay experience?

Any thoughts are welcome.

Other than the intermittent warning light and occasional heavy steering the car does seem a nice drive!

Thanks - Andyjw

24/7 spares, do a search through google, some have new parts with a 1 year gtee, some offer a 3 month one,

I think the pump has to be coded to the car somehow using VAG.com , Im not sure of the procedure when using a 2nd hand part though.
