Furby ' Big mouth ' Effect.

Featured Replies

Evening all. Over the next week i am considring giving my furby the big mouth effect, but am unsure of the best way to go about it, can anyone help?

1) Remove bumper

2) Remove plate and holder

3) Take airsaw/similar to the chunky plastic behind the plateholder. Take care to leave tidy flush edge. I cut well inside the edge, and tidied up with a scalpel blade to be neater.

4) Buy some black mesh from Halfrauds (Ripspeed) and cut out enough to cover the gap well. Bend under the lip at the bottom and glue to the hidden sides of the bumper with PU glue.

Not much else to say - good luck. :D

thanks mate, did'nt know halfords did black mesh, is it a special order item?

cheers for the instructions there dude. Any tips or instructions on removing the bumper? As for the number plate have you legally found a position for it?

removing the bumper = 2 small bolts just inside where the lip of the grille sits. There's about 3 torx bolts (T25 IIRC) in the wheelarch liner that attaches to the bottom. As standard there's also three odd "push out" clips that hold the front of the undertray on (I've not ran an undertray for years so unfamilair with it exactly)

Then you just unclip it from the clips by the wing, and it will come off. Take care to not pull too hard, as the foglights will still be plugged in, as will the ambient temp sensor. Unplug both.

Good to have two people doing this job. but I have managed myself before.

Numberplate? Well, I got a kind briskodian to mock me up a plate on special software, but I would not name him as I don't want him indulged with lots of vinyl plate requests. If he / another person PMs you with the offer of a sticker plate like mine, then so be it. I trimmed mine down and even have BS numbers on it. Again ;) ;)

I would like to colour code the plastic number holder, is this a bumper off and mask job?? Thought i'd ask in this thread rather as making another

The plastic holder will unclip - If you're referring to the "black bit"

its all time consuming but worth it, looks like a cornflake box template will be handy hehe

Oh brilliant, how shall i do that, possible to take off without removing bumper? sounds like a good job for the weekend:thumbup:

Sorry for all the question,

Jason:D

You know I have not got the foggiest idea how it unclips. I recommend removing the numberplate first and taking a look. My vRS bumper came without the holder so I was able to just start hacking away.

Theres nothing below the number plate just a blanck recess, mines is chipped to the high heavens and is covered in white polish, really annoys me, might colour code the fog light vents too while im at it

Well got the week off now, only prob is i have no mesh.

so looks like small mods this week. any thing else i need to know:thumbup:

The need to fit a license plate is the only reason I havent done this mod - we have US-style big plates here in both Arabic and English....

Silly when you think that "English numerals originally are arabic and that "true Arabic numerals" are in fact Indian in origin....
