Changing to Phillips Extreme H7 bulbs - how difficult?

Featured Replies

I've ordered replacement H7 bulbs for the Fabia from PHillips (Extreme Power) as the standard H7's are rubbish. Has anyone else changed these bulbs? Easy and straighforward? Or not? I just rang a local Startin Skoda dealer and they said they'd charge around £35 to fit - for a 10 minute job!

So I'll darn well do it myself...

Anyone done this yet?

Thanks

Shouldn't be a problem to change them yourself :)

There is a rubber cover on the back of each headlamp which has to be removed to gain access to the bulbs, then just twist the conector/bulb to release them from the lamps.

How easy this is depends on what kind of engine your car has/ how full the engine bay is :)

Good luck!

THanks JonA. It's a TDi 1.4 80. Bay's prolly a bit crowded... Any problem still? Thks

Headlamps are the same as the Roomy I think. There is only one bulb (H7) and the Phillips Extremes are a good upgrade

It takes about 5 minutes. Easy job

I was told that you have to take the battery out to get one of the bulbs in!

This put me off slightly doing it myself as it would re-set all of the electrics, air bag lights? etc.

Though if it's just a case of taking off the rubber surround and popping the new one in then fine by me.

Here is a copy of a reply I made to an earlier post on this topic.......

Mine is the Fabia 3 and the headlights have bi-Halogen written around the lens.

The casing in the engine compartment has a hella sticker on it and somewhere in the code it said H7 so I ordered the H7 bulbs.

I also had a dry run taking the old bulbs out before ordering. The connector is a little unusual, not the usual spring clip design. You have to twist it as stated in the manual to get the assembly out. When you get it out it is a bit of a struggle to liberate the bulb from the connector but I found that it does work out eventually.

Got the free blue side light bulbs but they look a nightmare to get out so I will not be bothering.
