Looks like you have only caused superficial damage and bent a few vains. No worse than a stone hitting it.

It's difficult to tell from that photo, but if it's just that the fins are bent, no. If the pipe is ruptured then yes.

Think you've probably been lucky and only damaged the cooling fins from here.

Any noticeable loss of power?, Any hissing/whistling noise?

If not then you should be ok.

Gahhhhhh.

Can't resist...

Must not take pi55...

It's no good. I have to.

I am sorry. I have to say this. I have to get it out of my system :P ;

Put the tools down and give them to an adult!

No loss in power no, have got a whilsting noise but think its frm turbo/egr

looks like bent fins only, can i ask how you did it?

its one of the things about diy mods, there should be a section for "when mods go bad" lol!!

i remember putting in a sub and amp and not knowing about the remote on, so i put a inline switch so i could turnt he amp off. only problem was i did it on the live wire and it used to spark so bad it almost set light to the car lol!

Looks like you were lucky from the photo's however the channels are a little more heavy duty than the vains.

A little overzealous??? Looks like you were going at it big styleeee to have reached that far in!!! :D:D:D

Cheers

Dave.

sawing the arch liner with a junior hacksaw, the end bit must of hit it

I used a power drill with one of those big 2" round cutting blade kinda things on the end...... Can tell i'm into DIY terminology can't ya!!!..... To cut out a few holes then smoothed doen the edges before fitting the vent.

Cheers

just to be extra sure ive not dammaged anything, are there any parameters I can check in vag com?

boost etc

Nah - you'll be fine. Thats just fin damage and the actual pipework is well behind what you've flattened. If you feel up to it, just use a sharp flat screwdriver and try to tease the flattened fins back to a normal shape. :)

For feck's sake leave the lad alone - he got away with his initial efforts, now you want him to take ANOTHER sharp implement to his inter-cooler?

Don't listen, use something blunt - a lump hammer, my head but don't go in there with anything sharp unless you're supervised by a responsible adult like me or Homer Simpson.

Really? Are you sure that pipework isn't either side of the fins?

Well been for a long drive, car doesnt seem to drive any different, feels slightly quicker if anything, but probbaly just placebo.

lucky escape me thinks

Well if you did damage it properly then it would be a excuse to move it to the front..... hehe

I'd recommend removing the arch liner before butchering it ;) That's what I did *smug mode*
