Peace at last ....a tale of two tyres

Featured Replies

What a difference a tyre or two makes....when I bought some very nice wheels from TomVrs a week ago they came with two worn bridgestone turanzas and two almost new "event" tyres ......and the noise from the Bridgestones has been driving me mad, so today they got changed for a couple of Goodyear F1 gsd3s and at the same time I swapped the "event" tyres to the back ...the result above all is it's QUIET the other result is that it now turns in to corners and is far more fun to drive

So today I have found out

Event tyres = made out of year old porridge and drive just as well as it sounds

Bridgestone Turanzas = BIG NOISE

Goodyear F1 GSD3s = quiet, handle well and are far more fun

i really like the F1's, got em on both my cars :)

Do they cost loads?

Do they cost loads?

Had a search around the web and after a bit of calculation decided the diference in price wasn't too much I got them fitted for £110 each at ATS ...this is 225 45 17 so not bad compared to Michelin pilot sports at £153 each

not too bad, have a look on places like blackcircles or my tyre for the latest prices, just get the size off the side of your current tyre and stick it into the site :)

While we are discussing tyres , I really like the Uniroyal Rainsports I bought last time.

Nice and quiet and verry grippy , especially in the wet as you might imagine from the name.

Hopefully they'll last , but as a set of 4 cost about £230 I'm not expecting miracles.

If you shop around you can find the new F1 asymmetrics for just over £100 fitted. Lovely tyre , highly recommended.

Forgot to say, that is for 18's as well.

Glad to hear you've got some proper tyres now Rob!!

Fingers crossed the Events don't last too long on the back! :P I must say I thought they werent too bad for the back at all, and certainly didn't notice them as being particularly noisy...

I got a pair of 225/45/17 GSD3's fitted all in for £179 via blackcircles which I thought was a good price.

They have lasted pretty well and are miles better than the Bridgestone tat fitted at the factory.

They (the events) are fine on the back of the car (not noisy either) but I wouldn't reccomend them on the front

T1R's all the way!!

A genuine question, but what makes these worth almost twice the price of Falken 452 tyres?

Because they last twice as long! :P Seriously, I've got a couple of Falken 452's and HAD to put them on the back due to alarming tyre wear (could just be my driving style though :o).

i've found the F1's to wear quite well as well as being very grippy in both wet and dry.

i have nothing bad to say for them tbh as they are quite quiet too.

I would love to know where you got 4 of those for £230 !

I can get 4 x Falken 452,s from Tyretraders.com for £66 each plus fitting which comes to £264, so £230 is an amazing bargain for Rainsports.
