New Tyres

Featured Replies

Just had some Toyo T1-R fitted a couple of days back (in order to replace shagged out Primacys at the rear) and I think they're top-notch :).

I shifted my Rainsports to the back (they are about 2k miles old) and had the Toyos on the front.

The Toyos seem much quieter on the front that the Rainsports did and so far handle nicely in rain/sleet/sunshine.

Yeh but doubt they will last. Softer compound and all

I've got them on at the moment.

They've done about 7k miles and not a lot left in them tbh...

Lol point made. Everyone rates them on here but I've always gone for a harder compound. Running pilot sports on the rear and conti's on the front at the moment.

But each to there own....

I got 4 of these sat in me kitchen so will be interesting to see how long they last.

I got goodyear eagle f1 gs d2 on front at mo which seem to be doing ok, good combo of grip and wear.

Cant wait to get toyos fitted and go to ring :D

Well jealous!!

Should last a while in your kitchen

Dont think I'll use them again tbh.

Tempted to try some Sumo Firenza ST-08 or some Kuhmo KU-31

Bit of a classic Catch-22 really. A better tyre (in terms of grip) will never last as long. In order to generate that grip, a softer compound needs to be used, which heats up more and therefore wears out more quickly.

I'm happy having a better performing tyre, but in the knowledge that they will need replacing more often.

I'm trying some Proxes-4s next.

...and in theory a soft road tyre wont be much use on a trackday as they will be asked to run at temperatures far higher than they are designed to run at - causing the surface of the tyre to melt.

I just got some Marangoni Zeta Lineas for the front. I assume that these will be pretty good on a trackday as they are used as a control tyre for the RX8 production championship. They are cheap - and a bit dodgy in the wet if I am honest, unless you are on good quality smooth black tarmac, a rarity in the UK. Excellent grip in the dry though.

I'm intrigued by the Hankook RS2's - what effect would the solid centre bands have on noise/wet grip? The T1Rs really do stick, but I don't think mine are going to last past the car limits day! (Just hope the clutch does)

Yup, had them a few days now and still look brand new :)

I know just how you feel, been on my to do list for a few years now but I'm finally going :)

I have no idea how you lot keep wearing them out. I got 18k and about 150 track miles out of set of T1-rs. Great tyres.
