Constant-velocity joint

Featured Replies

N/S Front cv joint has a rip in the lace , at the bottom above the metal tier, my mate from worked looked at it and says its just the lace what needs replacing. MOT in aug, shall i wait and replace lace later on towards mot or if i leave it, the rip will get bigger and loose grease?

' How much a new lace cost?

' if all worst happens and need a new cv join how much u talking? 120 fitted?

I work for windscreen company, we got bond we use to glue windscreens in, shall try that perhaps, mot'ers wont see it and anyways its not going to leak out so why should they fail it.

also need new pads and disks (front only) is 115 good, 85 for parts 30 fitted?

thanks john

can you describe exactly what a "lace" is with regard to a CV gaitor/joint please

Think he may mean gaitor.

Not a bad job to do, cant remember off hand how much they are, but i'd replace it sooner than later.

Grease can be very messy, and running the joit dry aint good for it.

Shall get photo for u guys its the black rubber cover thing, with the two tiers on. thanks

Get a new CV boot on there asap.

Kit isnt expensive even from Skoda.

I paid £105 fitted at my local dealer for this on the N/S. It had split and was chucking grease all over the alloy, ball joint, caliper etc etc.....proper mess.

The kit itself is about £15 on it's own.
