I have read a number of threads however none really match my situation which is as follows;

When I insert the key ( standard no remote locking capability) into my boot lock I can hear and see all the central locks opening however as the key only rotates a few degrees the rear boot unlocking mechanism doesn't engage so when I pull on the release lever on the tailgate for the boot nothing happens i.e. its like the lever is attached to nothing.

I took off the covering from inside the boot to look at the lock mechanism and from what I can see the "lock operating rod" is not moving sufficiently ( in fact its hardly moving at all) to allow the unlock mechanism to work. From reading this forum I think the problem may potentiall be the solenoid however before taking time off work I'd like to hear your opinion?

The solenoids can jam up, you could try removing it and see if it is free, if not a sharp tap on the plunger will un jam it for the short term. Replacement is not difficult and the parts are not that expensive. The boot lock key slot is also prone to dirt ingress and if not used can seize up.

Sounds like the solenoid has jammed to me, I concur.

So it turned out to be the solenoid after all. I bought a new one for €27 and fitted it myself. Everything works fine now.

My vrs hatch was jammed shut. Only way was to fold the rear seats, crawl past the sub (am a 45 yr old who likes quality sound, not a yob!). Push up the luggage shelf, lever it out. Open the access latch, click the orange lever and headbutt the hatch open.

Tried WD40 around the locks, a lot of light tapping but came to naught. Went in for a strong brew and a look see in the Haynes. Came out and removed the the tailgate panel. Tapped the motor - nothing. Removed the motor, tapped it, doused it in WD40 - nothing. Decided either having the hatch being always open as I had a golf game. Also since it was to work and back, car is parked next to security both places and I make a pretence of locking the boot.

Rang the dealer, who had no idea about the part, gave him the number and he promised to revert. I somehow did not expect too much. Rang a UK dealer who quoted 37 pounds + shipping. Rang my dealer who said that he has ordered the entire tailgate lock for nearly 100 pounds! I said, I wanted only the motor - sorry sir, we can only give you a whole subassembly. This is India by the way where the Skoda's come in kits and the network as yet to mature

Hmmmm, went back to the car. Removed panel, two screws and the motor was out. Took it in.

It looked as if it could be opened. It was a snapfit lug job. I had nothing to lose. I used a long nose plier to push the lugs from the retainer. Hey presto! it came apart cleanly. The motor is moulded in but the geared rack came out. I merely looked at it, put it in and twirled the motor which looked clean. Everything worked.

Snapped it together. Went back to the back and connected and "phatak". the motor turned and the rack moved. It was dark so am yet to fit it up. Till morning, and it is a holiday for us out here!

Not the same BUT when i open the drivers door the interior light wont come on and this stops me from being able to open the boot? if i open another door the int light comes on and the boot opens fine, any ideas?
