Treated myself - Home Cinema

Featured Replies

I was recently dragged to a super Geek HiFi show with Mr Fish which to be honest was a good idea for a fact finding mission.

Bearing in mind that I am a complete audiophobe and really can't get excited about it all however I do appreciate good sound.

My previous system was a Bose 321 GS V1 which was very good but rather limted in todays current age of connectivity.

So I set about looking for something to replace it. I wanted a simple solution so no seperates and my budget was circa £1k.

At the above mentioned freek, I mean geek, show I spotted the then unreleased NAD Viso 5 amplifier which was demo'd with the very neat Q Acoustics Q AV system.

Q-AV System

NAD Electronics :: VISO FIVE DVD/CD Surround Sound Receiver

It's taken me a while to get it all in place with the cables hidden etc and it was a little over my budget but I saved a packet ordering it at the show prices but OMG I am seriously impressed.

That loots really neat Stu, maybe next time I need some vag-com I'll get a chance to listen to it.

I'm really chuffed it with Manny, I expected to have to comprimise with an out of the box all in one solution but I am truly amazed. I've not tweaked with any of the finer adjustments yet, not sure if my ears are good enough to pick that out.

Sounds like you need a sound level meter. ;)

The theory is that you set all the speakers to the same level for a given volume. You can then tweak to suit.

Are you offering? :D

Oooh, you AV tart!!! :P

I love NAD kit, period. As for the box system - I'll have to hear it to believe it ;)

It would be good to have a listen as mine is a bit more of a conventional seperates system.

I do see the pro's and con's of the one box system and simplified speakers and it was one of the first questions I was asked when I bought mine.

"How is the wife acceptancy factor?"

Not a problem in my house.;)

Good to hear you're finally getting some AV gear you'll really enjoy :D

I also bought the additional DAB module but I've not tried that yet as the DAB antenna isn't being installed until next week.

I bought a sony one a few months back .....and it's great .....but ....with the extra bass it can anoy the neighbors, .......so we turn it up when they go out

Yes one slight regret we have is that we used to have a detatched house and could have our music as loud as we liked, now we have a town house with neighbours on one side it isn't such a good idea.

Not much to see really other than the pics on the website.

Bring your ears round as well then

That setup is VERY GOOD for the money and looks good too. Arcam do something similar which is terrific but it's twice the price :(

I was soooo close to buying the Arcam - very nice system, and great with the iPOD dock too - but I decided to spend money on the car instead!!
