facelift changes

Featured Replies

starting to look again at getting a mk1 octy. Occasionally see mentions of a facelift in 2000/2001? What are the changes that happened?

I'm planning to get a TDi Elegance estate.

cheers, L

Changes were different lights front and rear, different front bumper, revised interior trims, LX replaced by Classic, GLXi replaced by Ambiente and SLXi replaced by Elegance.Introduction of 1.4 16v engine in base model - avoid like the plague, totally gutless in such a big car.Various other tweaks and mods just to freshen its appeal.

I've a mate with a GLXi TDi, and have an Elegance. Based on our cars, the GLX has 15" steels with 195/60 or 65 section tyres; the Elegance has 16" alloys with 205/55R16 Zs! Why Zs? The car would rev out at 150mph if it had enough power to get there!!

I have been looking at various Octavia's recently, the 1.4 is alright if you want to get your foot in the door to the Octavia range, I found it went quite well in fifth once revved to get it there.

The 1.6 is quick enough, and 1.9tdi probably similar / slightly quicker.

I have settled on a 1.6 - 101bhp version, I am used to a 1.6 in a felicia so it felt quick enough. If I had things my way completely - and could afford it an RS would be the one I would go for :D

Even in 90bhp form, the TDi is decently quick (enough to be helpful when navigating an unknown town and needing punch to get lane changes).
