Should be fine, Ive driven a few 1.2's probably the 54bhp variant, and found them fine. driven them on mixed road including motorway use. Found the car confortable quiet and economical with an interesting engine note.

The 64bhp version should be fine its intended for the type of use you state. Its no sports car but has great torque in a small band that if gear changers are concided makes great progress. As long as the terain is not mountanous as hills are were the engine puffs a bit

I know a young lad about whos had one from new and thinks its fine.

In the UK I believe the classic SE now comes with alloys and air con about

I bought a 1.2 12v 64hp Fabia Silverline last November for the wife, it is also a second family car and up to press it is excellent.

You will surprised at the performance of the engine. Go for it you should have no regrets..
