Sorry if this has been asked before but I did a search for 'Tim 2H' and nothing came up.

Anyway, its a message that appeared on my Symphony headunit when I turned the car off and pulled the key out... I turned the ignition on then off again and it did it a second time. The stereo was off on both occasions then, but just driven home with the stereo on and it didn't do it again once I turned the car off.

Any ideas

I think it's how long the stereo will stay on if you switch it on using the on/off button but without the ignition turned on. It's to stop it draining the battery if you switched it on like that and then went on holiday or something...

i think that refers to the delay timer.....

if you remove the key from the ignition, you can still turn on the radio, if you leave it switched on it will automatically switch off after 2 hours

Strange that it doesn't seem to have done it before during 18 months of ownership! Ok, I might not have noticed but I am usually a bit sad and an*l enough to notice things like that!

I have flicked between the auto key on/off thing a few times but not recently and haven't fiddled with any other settings. Oh well, not to worry!

I thought this was to do with the TP function, as it'll record and save all traffic reports broadcast within the next two hours. I say this as I only get the message when TP is activated and no message when TP is deactivated.

it records the traffic messages from the last 2 hours ,so if you start your car at 0900 you can listen to the traffic messages from 0700 that morning

Ahhh... TP... thats another thing!

You see, I'm fairly certain I never had TP activated, or it wasn't displayed anyway, when I bought my car until a friend of mine started fiddling... with the stereo... Since then TP has been in the display although I don't actually get traffic reports. I've never used them - don't agree with them! Where's the fun, the danger involved in knowing where the next traffic jam may or may not be...

Short of going out and fiddling with the radio myself I couldn't tell you off hand. If you press and hold the TP button it brings up the menu so you could be able to deactivate it from there (there's also other stuff you can activate in the menu like auto volume increase as the speed increases and an extra flashing red security light when you lock the car up)

Hit the button that you use to change the radio band. You'll see it cycle through FM FM1 and AM (or something similar). 'TP' will light in the top left corner for one of the FM bands - you therefore want the other FM one. This setting also applies when you're listening to a CD or AUX input.

Not sure well the record features work, mine always say no msgs... :confused:

1) Hit the TP button and that enables the "Traffic Announcement" enabled FM presets band. Switching to CD or doing anything other than "2)" below, leaves the d*mn thing TA/TP enabled.

2) Hit the A/F button to select the Non TA FM and AM station presets.

I always forget to reset it after the odd occasions I've wanted TP info.... It's been easier since I reduced the TA volume in the setup menus, that it doesn't try to blow the windows off.

That's always a good one, quietly listening to your music when...

You could well be right, but I thought my AF button scrolled through the traffic announcements as well. But maybe not

But (I think) this only works if the channel was a "TP" channel when you switched it off. I find BBC channels work best too.

But (and the Manual is highly unclear on this bit) you can make it listen to traffic news for 24 Hours.

If you set the radio to a TP channel - ideally a BBC one, then pull the ignition key out, the radio switches off. Once the "Tim 2H" has disappeared (you have to wait for this), and the radio looks totally off, you then press and hold the AIM button until something happens.

This will make the radio start up again for a few seconds, and then display "Tim 24H" before going back to sleep again - because it's listening for 24 hours to traffic reports.

I have to say it's somewhat flaky though - when it's asleep like that it seems to be a bit variable on whether RDS signals actually wake it up. When it works it can be useful though - especially 1st thing in the morning.

Mine now refuses to eject my new Kraftwerk CD. :(

Tried thumping it to no avail. It looks like it's dismantle it time again to retrieve.

BTW "Tour de France 2003", not a patch on the original, I don't like it, and now I can't listen to any of the CDs in the autochanger 'cos this stoopid thing is stuck in h/u.

Oh well, maybe I'll re-colour code some stuff when it's all in pieces.

Mine works perfectly - BUT you have to make sure that the station to which the radio is tuned (when you switch it off) broadcasts traffic info regularly.

I.E, there is no point leaving set to national BBC radio 2,3, or 4, for instance, as the traffic info is infrequent (R2) or non existant. (R3 & 4) Dunno about R1 as I can't stand the racket!

Far better to leave it to your local staion - BBC or Independent - it seems to make no difference.

You can set it so that it will monitor for the last 24hrs or 2 hrs. Its just a shame that my octy II radio doesn't seem to have this function, unfortunately.
