Renting a garage?

Featured Replies

Me and my dad have contemplated buying a project car to work on, he wants a VR6 Corrado or a Jenson Interceptor (LOL, like swmbo (mum) will let him )

Anyway, we talked, and the main problem is we have no space to work on it.

Sooooooooo...

As a general question, has anybody had any experience in renting a garage? If so, is there like a website which you can use to search for such things?

I rent a small farm unit to work on my car. I found it by word of mouth.

Remember you will probably have to pay councill tax on top of your rent.

Woa that's a nice little place by the looks of it.

If you don't mind me asking, how much does it set you back?

£200 all in PCM.

Depending on where you live the local council may have a few garages/lock-ups that you could rent.

I rent a garage for £30 pcm until i get my lazy ar5e into gear to get the drive done.

If your planning to work on a car you will need something bigger than a single garage. I ran out of room fast at home, still not got a massive ammount now. Looking to get into one of the bigger units on the farm now, just missed one but next on the list should one come up. Double the rent though, eeeeek.

Woa, I was thinking 200 was a lot as well, DOUBLE!?

We have a single garage, but I can tell that there is no way we could work properly on a car in there.

JESUS F*****G CHRIST, I only pay a bit over that a month for my house

£50 of that is council tax.

Double is a lot more than I can afford on my own but the bigger units usually house buisnesses and are big enough to have ramps in etc so have the money generated to pay for them. As long as I can do a few jobs here and there I cover my rent without to much hassle.

My brother was looking into it.

£32 a month from birmingham City council.

Yes you will deffo need more than a council lock up if you want to work on your car , unless you want to work outside! I keep my car in one , and theres just about enough room to open the door of a big car (Mitsi Galant/Superb sized) and get out of it , and thats with the passenger side just about wedged against the far wall. Mind you , theres no electric anyways , but for £23 a month , Im not complaining!
