Hi there,

My name is Barny_Strode (it's not really - it's just a name I adopted for my Hotmail account; can anyone figure out why and what my real name is ? All the clues are ether.)

I've just paid a deposit on a 2005 Skoda Superb 1.9 Tds PD130 Elegance and will be taking delivery sometime in the next few days. That means I haven't got much to say for myself at the moment, but I'm sure there'll be plenty of questions and comments once I get the car.

I've had a fair mix of company motors in the past: Sierras, Cavaliers, Audis, BMW and Volvo, but I opted out of the company car scheme about 7 years ago (for tax reasons) and have been driving a Citroen Berligo Multispace since then. Bit of an odd car to choose for a company car driver, but it's amazing how your values change when it's your own money you're spending. It's been cheap to run, superbly practical, and a bundle of fun over the last 7 years; so much so, that I nearly didn't buy the Skoda - I couldn't bear to see my Berlingo left on a garage forecourt & not knowing who its next owners will be. I've been so attached to car before. Sad ? Weird ? I dunno, just a bit upsetting.

Anyway, I spent 5 mins looking looking at the photos of my new car on the garage website, and I'm now looking forward to D-Day.

The posting about car mats was useful, 'cos my car doesn't have them in & it's got cream interior, so mats will be the first purchase.
