mpg?

Featured Replies

A silly question really - as I'm lazy and hate to do the arithmetic myself, does someone have a quick answer as to how your mpg equates to our km per liter? I forgot which gallon you use in the UK...

We use imperial gallons.

The formula is 282.5/ litres per 100km

I have an (overall) average of 49mpg which is 5.76l/100km

We use the Imperial Gallon, not the US Gallon :)

To convert imperial to metric, multiply by the factor shown on the

right. To convert metric to imperial divide by the factor shown.

Fuel Consumption

Gallons per Mile - Litres per Kilometre 2.825

Miles per Gallon - Kilometres per Litre 0.354

I take the fuel put in....times that figure (litres) by 0.22 to give the gallons equivalent. Then divide the mileage covered by the gallons to give your mpg.

Of course dont forget to brim the tank each fill to give you correct readings. Dont forget the air bleed valve just down the filler neck to help release the air quicker.( push it down with the pump nozzle as its spring loaded).

Cheers

Thanks guys, that's the one I was looking for. (We don't normally use the official EU x litres / 100 km quote, but still go by the old "1 liter for x km", which works the same as your "mpg".)

Or use this site here which is in or web links and which can be used to convert all sorts of useful figures - but not a vRS into a car I would prefer over a 4X4.
