Featured Replies

this may have been done but hopefully if not this could become a bit of good thread.

basically after a remap what other option are available as the next step for engine?

Air Intake?

Turbo?

FMIC?

anything else as a natural progression?

suspension mods whats the options available but keeping a car that wont break your back and still handle on the road? again looking at a natural progression from standard setup

Rear ARB

Front S3 Lower and Upper Braces

Stiffer springs

Coilovers?

Brake Upgrades yet again a natural progression from standard?

Pads

discs

Porsche Brembo upgrade

Servo upgrade?

TIA

Power-wise you would be looking at upgrading the turbo along with a FMIC and associated piping, probably also uprate things like the MAF and injectors, then get it re-mapped again. I would probably have done the air intake and exhaust before the first remap to get the best results out of it (especially a custom remap).

Putting a different turbo on will probably mean a different exhaust mani and you might want to get a turbo-back exhaust system with a sports cat.

You'd probably want to upgrade the clutch to handle the extra torque you'd now have.

Suspension-wise maybe fit some decent coilovers and get a full geometry setup, and do the usual things with S3 and R32 strut braces.

Brakes you could upgrade the calipers to Audi S3 / TT ones and upgrade the discs and pads. Those Brembo brake kits look pretty expensive, not sure they're worth it unless you're running massive bhp.

Get the suspension and brakes done first, as with a Neuspeed rear ARB/Coilovers and Ferodo 2500 pads you will be able to use what you already have to the full.

The just go for a remap at a well known and reliable tuner, as to go down the bigger turbo road is an arm and a leg and possibly a kidney as well, if you want it done properly.

There's quite a jump in terms of cost between beginning to tune the 1.8 20v T engine (induction/exhaust mods and a remap) which is going to cost you £800-1000 at the most, and going all out with it (bigger turbos, FMICs and such) which is going to be several grand easily.

I suppose a compromise would be to transplant a 225ps engine from an S3 or similar and get that remapped, but at a guess that would cost you well over £1000 to do properly.

When you factor in the necessary upgrades you'd have to do to brakes, suspension and clutch you are looking at a bl**dy lot of money!

what front diffs are available for controlling the power once youve gone for the bigger power?

A Quaife LSD/ATB will tame the power a bit, and they are over £650 plus fitting to the new six speed gearbox you will also need to run it properly.

What six speed box do the users most use??

O2M i think which comes from an Audi TT Leon Cupra R etc
