Electric window problem

Featured Replies

Please could anyone shed light on a rear O/S electric window problem. Car is a 2002 Octavia Vrs. The window does not work at all. Just makes an electrical clicking noise when either front driver or its own window switch is pressed!

All other electrics appear OK, all other windows working, and central locking is fine.

Removed door trim to inspect, removed electrical connector for window motor (fairly large, white in colour, has lots of contact pins inside ) Have read where moisture can get into this plug and cause corrosion on pins. Mine was fine, no hint of any water ingress. Any help/advice much appreciated, Cheers!

Sounds like the window mechanism is gone, its normally where it gathers up the wire, had the same problem think it cost over 100 euro and 30 mins to fit it has a name on it but for the life of me i can't think on it but the peice includes the runners you just take out window and use your old motor.

Hi I have the same problem with my 2000 octavia estate front passenger window. The cables have become twisted around the centre spigot and forced thro the casing:(.Just wondering if these are interchangeable with any other VAG cars ie passat/golf.Thanks for any help

Thanks for help. Stripped it down, and removed window regulator, could not see any damaged/jammed cable, all looked well. Removed motor from regulator, and plugged it back onto wiring. Tried power to motor, still nothing, still just clicking noise.

Removed motor casing, and again all internals looked like new.

Rang local dealer, new motor will cost approx £178. Ouch!!!!

Ordered second hand one, £25 plus vat, plus approx £8 p+p.

Waiting for it to arrive, will post update if this works!!!

Hi CJ,

where did you get your replacement from? I need one (well the pcb anyway) for my d/s/f door.

Cheers.

Replacement motor from cars dismantled by skospares.com for all your skospares trading as Roadside Rescue. £25 for motor and £8.50 P+P + VAT, arrived within two days.

However, the motor was not the problem. Still just clicking when switch pressed. Examined wiring where it passes through door pillar. Bingo!!! Main red feed wire broken. Ordered new loom from dealer, fitted it, all working fine.

If it's of any help to anyone, here is a list of part No's that may be helpful for electric rear window problems. Also found you could order new plastic door membrane, better than trying to repair old one with tape!!!!

1U0839462B Rear O/S electric window regulator £48.66

1U0959812D Rear O/S electric window motor £39.36 inc P+P second hand.

1U4971161AD Rear O/S electric window wiring loom £54.44

1U4868400 Rear O/S door membrane £3.95

Ok had same problem and found the break inside the rubber housing between door and pillar,I undid cotton material that was wrapped round the cables and there was enough room to solder in another piece of cable and window works. Thanks for posting.

I just replaced the loom with one form a scrap yard .

no buddy, can do it with door in place.

you have to remove the door panel and lower plastic kick panels to get to the plugs where the door pillar is. The rest you just un plug from the door components and remove loom

hi do you mean the panel where the bonnet pull is
