Foolish error with mobile phone

Featured Replies

I was looking for free 'waalpapers' for my mobile,on net, one site offered 'free wallpapers'.

I clicked on a box and it said to enter my mobile no. Like a nob I did.

promptly received a text saying I get 9 free wallpapers a week for £4:50:eek:

To unsubscribe text back 'stop'. have done so and my bill has increased by £4:50 or so, am I in the clear and unlikely to get any more expense. Am I right in thinking as long as I don't open any unidentified texts I should be ok?

Sneaky B**tads, should have known better:(

Once the txt is delivered to your phone I suspect that you will be billed. Therefore you have probably now paid £4.50 and now "stopped" it, so have nothing to show for your money :-(

cheers, looks like the case, usage up by £4:50 + 30odd pence for the text to 'stop'

so long as there's no more charges its ok, (expensive) lesson learnt:(

call your supplier and tell them to block the number.

Will consider this, but I think your ok as long as you discard any future messages without opening them. Am on 3 network, would they do a 'block' for free?

Or perhaps I'll just keep an eye on sender ID before opening any texts, delete without opening any with numbers like 65765 instead of normal no's.

Cheers.

I don't think simply deleting the txt's without opening them will work as technically you've still received the message which is what they're charging you for.

Could be the case. I'm hoping the fact I text 'stop' to the number instructed (it says to do so if you no longer want to receive anything from them) and the fact I was charged for the text, as well as the initial £4:50 means I'll hear no more, fingers crossed/burnt.

I'm sure there are some people on here who work for mobile companies, they'd know, failing that I might brave the hold music and ring 3, as bengie said, get it blocked.
