Fabia vRS Tyres

Featured Replies

IT appears my vehicle has excessive tyre noise mainly coming from the front. I have contacted skoda and they have said the correct spec is 205/45 R16 83W. The tyres fitted to my vehicle are 205/45 R16 87W heavy load tyres. Would this effect the amount of tyre noise heard in the cabin? All help appreciated.

What brand of tyres are they?

the fronts are fortuna 205/45R16 87W and the rear are the same size but made by Marangoni. These were the ones fitted by the skoda dealer.

would make it abit noisier, but not too much i wouldnt have thought. Check tyre pressure too.

All it means is that the side wall is stiffer. They are a bit louder but also means the tyre flexes/rolls less under hard cornering.

Also good if you tow!

Fabias, Polos, Ibizas are notorious for tyre noise as there is no sound proofing in the cars

Tyres can be measured in a number of parameters and 'noise' is quite relevant for Polo chassis cars

As a side effect maybe... The base definition of extra load or reinforced tyres is that they have a higher rated inflation pressure. i.e. You can blow them up harder.

To the OP.... Whilst I think cheaper tyres aren't helping, road/tyre noise is something the Fabia suffers from, the factory fit Contis also cause "noise".

It's possible to fit noisekiller kits etc which damp down the overall sound level. Other than that it's a case of Picking good quality, quieter tyres.
