Cheers! Matt

Links would be great!:)

Hello, i'm an auto electrician and i have a vRS with the same hands free kit and i can safely say....... you don't need one, it'll plug straight in!

all the best

Thats that sorted then :D

Yeh the Skoda uses an ISO connection so you wont need any adaptors (assuming you are using the factory head unit)

Hi,

Did you get it fitted OK and easily?

I am looking at getting one of these for my 06 Fabia Vrs.

I fit these for my living - you may have to swop the switched live and the perminant live - the 2 fuse holders come apart and switch over the 2 ends.

Some VAG vehicles need this mod - some dont!

OK cool. Is it pretty much just plug and play once you get the head unit out then?

yeah - 2 flat keys in the horozontal slots (halfords £5) pull out stereo - make sure you have your stereo code before unplugging - unplug the 2 iso's. connect Parrot loom - you will find 2 yellow mute wires, normally marked "MUTE2" connect them together - route your mic - find a hone for your control button - make sure the wiring is secured and away from the pedals and the steering - pull out your pocket if you have one it makes placing the box and routing the loom easier - make sure none of the loom gets trapped or nipped - put your pocket back first - them slowly push the radio back into place. Job done - remember to pair your mobile - pin code is normally 1234! ;)

nice one mate, thanks for the help!!What do you mean by 'pocket'?

Wild guess (having had my head unit out today) would be the one just under the HU, put your hand inside and pull out firmly - it just pops out. Then you get some good access underneath to the back of the HU to twiddle the cables.

It just pushes back in after you've slotted the HU back in.

[edit] oops, take Polo's advice - pocket in first he said. [/edit]

Andy.

nice cheers. Do you think I will need to do any cable switching for power which people seem to be saying?

You work at halfords dont you?;)

ooo I'm not sure. I think if they're the wrong way round then things either don't turn on or stay on all the time?

Study the wiring diagram from the Parrot, identify the correct switched/live feeds from the car, and just make yourself very happy that they're the right way round!

I did have to switch them to fit an after market Sony HU.

Fixed it awhile back now! no extra wires needed for the Fabia vRS's Head Unit! I wouldnt fit it yourself! as the pros hide all the wires:)

I got my unit of ebay! Around £90 and fitting was £40!

I have just bought one from ebay, £75 inc postage.

Where did you get it fitted? Allthough a lot of people say its not that hard to do yourself.

Ive thought about buying one of these but have decided to go for a quality audio system that has bluetooth enabled for mobile calls. Works exactly like the Parriot does.

Any opinions on this would be nice please.

Yep - in Stirling - do about 5 kits a day!

Yep - in Stirling - do about 5 kits a day!

So I should be fine doing it myself? Quite a few saying not.

Would you be able to send me some instructions on what you normally do including any helpful bits I need to know? Thanks.

All the instructions I have are in the post i did at the top. If you get suck you can go on Car Stereo Fitting | Car Stereo Removal | Remove Car Stereo Advice | Fit Car Stereo Help for a few tips!

I recon someone with minimal radio knowledge could get it done in under an hour (normally takes me about 20 minutes) the biggest piece of advice I have is to make sure that when you feed the wires for the mic and the button is that you wrap up the excess wiring and wrap it with insulating tape. it makes refitting the pocket (first then radio) and the radio easier so to keep the new wiring out of the way.

Oh and dont forget to make sure you have the radio code before you disconnect the radio!

If i was closer I would come and do it for you! ;)

My old job then, but i used to work at 817 wakefield.

do you guys do reversing sensors and cameras? I used to hate those.

Quite liked fitting the parrot kits, nice and easy.

No need for the radio codes on the newer vag cars mk4 golf and up. The radio "learns" the code from the ecu when its put back into the same car.

You only need the code when you swap the radio to another car.

Cool cheers! where would you recommend putting the mic and control unit? And best place to feed cables etc...?

Mic clips into the top of the trim on the a-pillar with the cable running down the inside of the door seal, under the dash (under the trim panel - easiest to remove it and run the cable then refit it) The control box should fit under the pocket behind the heater controls - (there is enough space under there to hide a body!)

When you have found a place to fit your control button feed the cable through a gap behind the dash.

I would recommend straightening a wire coat hanger to tape the cable to pull them upto the radio slot! ;)

Should be fine! :)

Where are the common places you would put the control button?
